St. Catharines woman charged after vehicle crashes into 2 homes

A St. Catharines woman has been charged after a vehicle crashed into two homes on Monday.

Police were called to the area of St. George St. and Facer St. around 11:30 p.m. for reports of a car striking a house.

Officers arrived on scene and found a Ford Fusion with severe damage to the front end and rear bumper.

It’s alleged the driver reversed out of a driveway, across St. George St. and smashed into a home. Police believe the driver then drove forward again and crashed into another house.

Several nearby homes had to be evacuated after a gas line was severed and sparked a fire.

Members of the St. Catharines Fire Service attended the scene and put out the fire.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police estimate the total cost of damages is roughly $67,000.

The 63-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and is facing impaired driving charges.

She was also issued a 90-day driving suspension.
