Snow squall warning remains in effect for Hamilton, Burlington and Oakville

First Published:

Environment Canada has placed a snow squall warning in effect for Hamilton, Burlington, and Oakville throughout Saturday afternoon.

A snow squall warning happens when strong winds are blowing a sudden heavy snowfall creating visibility issues.

“A narrow band of lake effect snow is affecting areas just south of Burlington as of late morning,” said the alert. “This band of snow is fairly stationary and will continue to affect the area into the afternoon. The band may weaken somewhat later this afternoon although additional snowfall is likely to move into the area by evening.”

Environment Canada says that the snow can reach up to 25cm or more today, with an additional 10 cm possible this evening.

“Travel will be impacted, particularly along portions of the QEW, where very heavy snowfall will result in reduced visibilities at times. Motorists are advised to exercise caution”.

You can follow alerts on the Environment Canada website.
