Skydiver taken to hospital after striking tree in Dundas

A woman in her twenties has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a tree during a skydiving jump in Dundas.

Hamilton EMS Superintendent Dave Thompson says paramedics were called to Skydive Swoop on Highway 5 around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Thompson says the woman’s parachute did open properly but she collided with a tree during the descent.

There was an off duty paramedic on scene at the time of the incident who came to the woman’s aide.

She was rushed to hospital in serious condition with injuries to her back and lower body.
