Hamilton City Councillor Sam Merulla says it’s time for Hamilton to host the Grey Cup and he’s getting the ball rolling. 1996 was the last time Hamilton hosted the Grey Cup.

He says he has spoken to staff, and other council members who support the idea. He also says Ticat President Scott Mitchell has indicated he is on board. During the stadium debate, the CFL offered up 2 Grey Cup Games over the next 10 years if the city supported construction of a new stadium. Sam Merulla says now it’s time to hold the league to it’s promise.

As for the cost? “There will be some cost related to marketing, but for the most part the return of our investment is far greater than the cost.”
