Shooting on the Hamilton mountain being investigated

First Published:

A shooting on Hamilton’s west mountain last night is now under investigation.

Hamilton Police say around 10:30 p.m. neighbours near Silvercrest and Southlea Drive heard a confrontation outside on the street followed by gunfire. This is an area near Westmount Secondary School. Detectives were at the scene today searching for evidence like bullet holes in homes or cars and they couldn’t find anything that was struck. They’re unsure if anyone in the group on the street was injured in the shooting. They are asking anyone involved in the confrontation to contact police.

Detectives say there is no threat to public safety as the shooting appears to be targeted.
