It’s tough as an individual to make your way through the world sometimes.

Harder still sometimes for immigrants, refugees, and especially young women.

So when a world-famous basketball superstar who’s been through all of that drops by the Hamilton YMCA to offer some advice, it’s a message that can be taken to heart.

28 year-old Harlem Globetrotter Joyce Ekwrarmadu spent Wednesday with a group of young immigrants and refugees.

Between trying to sink baskets from half-court, her message whether you are pursuing academics or other pursuits, the journey is often the same: Whatever your goal is you have to work harder to get there.
