Turkey’s state-run news agency says a court has sentenced two Syrian men to four years in prison over the death of Syrian refugee, Alan Kurdi.

The image of the boy, his lifeless body lying face down on a beach, galvanized world attention on the Syrian refugee crisis. Kurdi’s brother and mother also drowned. The boy’s aunt, Tima Kurdi, welcomed her brother Mohammad Kurdi and his wife and five kids to Vancouver in late December.

The trials against alleged people-smugglers, who are Syrian nationals, began back on February 11th. The two men were also accused of causing the death of four other people.
