Canada’s Wonderland is known for its thrills. But Friday night, the theme park started scaring up screams before guests even reach the rides. The 9th annual Halloween Haunt kicked off, and Melissa Raftis braved the evening to get this story for you.

“Welcome, come on in. We don’t bite. hard.”

Halloween haunt certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. The spooks start as soon as you walk in the gates. And the more you scream, the scarier it gets.

“What scared you? I don’t know the random. I knew it was coming. That’s what the issue was.”

The anticipation of knowing that one of more than 700 monsters lurking around the park could jump out at you at any moment makes for a tense visit to Canada’s Wonderland.

Dineen Beaven is with Canada’s Wonderland: “These monsters are really good at what they do. A lot of them develop these characters they come in and they can be very scary when they’re here.

“I can honestly say I don’t like being scared but at the same time it’s nice to get scared once in a while you don’t get scared anymore.”

If three scare zones, 10 terrifying mazes and horrific live shows aren’t enough to thrill you, most of the parks main attractions are open as well.

But even if you plan on bee-lining it to the rides. You can count on your camerman to send over a scare.

“Ah! You did that on purpose!”

And for those who don’t frighten so easily, it’s best to bring along someone who does.

“Is it a good date night being scared? I hope so. She better be.”
