Norfolk County has declared this Saturday, August 2 as Annaleise Carr day.

The 16-year-old swimmer has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Camp Trillium, a children’s cancer support centre.

She swam across Lake Erie last week but was forced to end her journey just short of Port Dover. She is going to swim from Long Point to Port Dover before the end of the summer. Two summers ago, she became the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario.

Annaleise Carr day will be celebrated at the new Lynn River Music and Arts festival, which will include a special ceremony for her.
