Five Russian canoeists, including olympic gold medallist Alexander Dyachenko, have been banned from the Rio Olympic games over doping.

The International Canoe Federation says all five were mentioned in a World Anti-Doping Agency investigator’s report which detailed how Russian state officials allegedly intervened to cover up hundreds of failed drug tests.

Three Russian rowers have also been excluded from the Rio Olympics. The decisions come days after the International Olympic Committee decided against a complete ban on Russians in Rio and left the matter up to individual Federations for each sport.
