Ride Norfolk will resume fare collection on August 4th

First Published:

Ride Norfolk will resume fare collection on August 4th. Fares can be paid on the bus with exact change or tickets can be bought at any Norfolk public library.

Ride Norfolk will continue to have masks be a requirement while riding the bus to ensure the safety of the driver and passengers.

If you can not bring masks, buses are equipped with face masks, disposable gloves, disinfectant spray, and wipes.

Ride Norfolk has noticed an increase in ridership due to businesses reopening and want to make sure they are taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“We’ve seen an increase in ridership while more businesses and services start to reopen,” said Blaire Sylvester, Norfolk County’s Public Transportation and Business Development coordinator.

“We are ensuring all reasonable steps are being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  However, maintaining a safe physical distance may not always be possible while on-board. We recommend all passengers wear face coverings while using public transit for the health and safety of fellow riders and the drivers.”

Buses will continue to be cleaned thoroughly, riders are encouraged to practice social distancing.

Maximum capacity has increased from five to eight during Stage three of reopening.
