Hamilton police now say they have identified the remains of 19-year old Harmanjit Singh.
CHCH News spoke with his uncle on the phone who lives in Brampton Friday evening. He told us that his family is mourning the loss of his nephew and are they now consoling each other.
19-year old Harmanjit Singh, from India was an international student at Mohawk College, studying automotive manufacturing. His uncle says he wants his nephew to remembered as good, kind man. The last person to hear from Singh was his girlfriend in the early hours of October 27th. He had told her that he was spending the night at a friend’s house. His family was hopeful for his safe return when he first went missing.
Sunny Chahal, last month: “If he’s out there listening to us, it’s just like a humble request. And as his uncle and from his father that we want him to come home to us and come home to use safe as soon as possible.”
In the weeks following his disappearance, police focused their attention on a house on Hannon Crescent on the east mountain. According to police they believe that Singh was there the day of his disappearance.
In late November, someone walking near Watercrest Drive and Seabreeze Crescent in Stoney Creek noticed human remains in a flood basin. They were badly decomposed, and an autopsy could not show how he died.
It was only earlier today when his family was notified that those remains found did belong to Harmanjit Singh. His uncle told CHCH News police say there were no obvious signs of trauma, but they have not ruled out foul play.
Singh’s father is in currently in Canada. He travelled her from India to aid in the search. But now he unfortunately has to plan his son’s funeral.
