More than one thousand people took part in a ceremony at Hamilton city hall Tuesday morning.

It included a special presentation to the Argyll and Sutherland highlanders.

The book of condolences for Corporal Nathan Cirillo that many in the city signed, as well as many more from across the country, was officially handed over.

Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina: “Who came here to express their feelings on the tragic loss of Corporal Cirillo. And it’s my honour to present this to you for the regiment’s archives.”

Mayor Bob Bratina also unveiled a plaque dedicated to World War One and World War Two veterans. The crowd stood shoulder to shoulder at today’s ceremony including members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders at every corner. It began with the singing of O Canada! while a warplane flew overhead. Many laid wreaths in remembrance.
