RCMP say the bodies of B.C. murder suspects found

First Published:

The search is over. RCMP say the bodies, believed to be two British Columbia murder suspects, have been found this morning in northern Manitoba.

The bodies were found in dense brush near the shoreline of the Nelson River. RCMP said yesterday they found several items linked to the two suspects near the river. The bodies were found within a kilometre from those items.

Kam McLeod, 19, and Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, from Port Alberni, B.C., were facing a second-degree murder charge in the death of a Vancouver man. They were also suspects in the shooting deaths of an American woman and her Australian boyfriend.

An autopsy is scheduled in Winnipeg to confirm their identities and to determine their cause of death.
