Puffer jackets, boots, moisturizers: 5 essentials to get you through the winter

With the cold and dreary weather, winter is not necessarily the season most Canadians look forward to.

But blogger Chole Sugar says you can anticipate stylish fashion and beauty trends this season.

Outdoor Clothing and Gear

From patterned knits to over-sized puffer jackets and matching snow pants, Sugar said ski style is in this winter.

“Winners is always one of my go-tos to help me prep for the season,” Sugar said in an interview on Morning Live. “Let me tell you, there was no shortage of must-haves, like this epic bomber jacket in the perfect pattern for you to stand out.”

She also mentioned a number of designer gift sets, including matching hats, scarves and gloves.

Warm Boots

Finding the right boots is essential for Canadian winters.

“My favorite boots every year are always from Call It Spring,” Sugar said. “With innovative designs and fresh styles, they’re always up to date with the latest trends.”

She said their chill-proof shoes, such as the Paiige Chunky Platform boots, are lined with vegan leather to keep you warm.

If you’re looking to make a stylish statement this winter, Sugar recommended the Alps faux shearling-lined boots.

Winter Skin Care

Clothing is not the only thing you need to change for the season. Sugar said you should also adjust your skin care products during the winter, especially if you have dry skin or chapped lips.

Sugar recommended CeraVe’s moisturizing cream, which is approved by the Canadian Dermatology Association.

“Formulated with three essential ceramides, whose absorption through the skin is optimized for 24 hours thanks to hyaluronic acid and their patented MVE complex, you can ensure it will deeply nourish and restore your skin’s natural protective barrier,” she said.

Self-Tanners

Losing your summer glow is usually one of the most dreadful parts of winter.

That’s why Sugar recommended the GLAM Body Dark self-tanner: “Each formula is made with DHA, which helps to guarantee a gradual, long lasting natural tan without causing damage to the skin and zero orange tones.”
