A Hamilton anti-war group is planning to attend the Prime Minister’s town hall at McMaster University Wednesday.

The Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War says it will picket Justin Trudeau’s meeting to bring attention to some of its foreign policy concerns.

One of the concerns is the government’s approval of a $15 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia.

“Saudi Arabia is one of the worst human rights abusing countries in the world,” says Ken Stone, treasurer for the group.

“Trudeau campaigned against the [Saudi] deal in 2015 when he was running for election and this is another broken promise.”

The group is also looking ahead to an upcoming meeting with the U.S. on North Korea in Vancouver on Jan. 16.

Stone says Trudeau has to make sure the Vancouver summit works for peace.

“We will be handing out flyers and holding signs to make the people going inside the town hall are aware of some of the questions they should be asking.”

Trudeau’s visit is also bringing out the Hamilton 350 Committee.

The environmental group says they are planning to protest Trudeau’s approval of various pipeline projects.

In 2016 during a visit to Hamilton, Former Green Party of Canada candidate Ute Schmid-Jones pushed through a crowd of reporters and threw pumpkin seeds at Trudeau as he was leaving city hall.

Trudeau is hosting a town-hall meeting at the Burridge Gym at McMaster University at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
