A Port Colborne man is facing six charges in connection with the historic sexual assault of a youth in Welland.

Police launched an investigation back in November 2019. Investigators discovered that a boy under the age of 16 was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man between 2009 and 2011.

On Wednesday, detectives arrested 64-year-old Gerard Thibault.

He has been charged with three counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference.

Detectives say they have reason to believe that members of the public have further details in relation to the alleged incidents.
