Two Niagara Falls residents are facing charges after police seized more than $18,000 worth of illicit drugs.
Niagara police launched an investigation in March into an alleged drug dealer in Niagara Falls.
“Police conducted surveillance and made observations that were consistent with drug trafficking over the course of the investigation,” said Niagara police in a news release.
On Monday, police seized 23. 6 grams of carfentanyl, 47.5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 62.0 grams of cocaine with a total value of $18,030. Carfentanyl is an opioid that is often used by veterinarians for very large animals like elephants. It is not for human use. It is approximately 100 times more toxic than fentanyl and 10,000 times more toxic than morphine. Carfentanyl can be deadly in extremely small amounts.
Thirty-four-year-old Ryan Wilson and 27-year-old Karissa Watkins were arrested and face a number of drug-related charges.
