Police searching Lake Erie for person who went overboard

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is searching the waters of Lake Erie after a person went overboard a boat in Norfolk County.

Police learned someone on a commercial vessel went overboard between 10:10 a.m. and 10:20 a.m. Monday.

The boat was roughly eight miles west of Long Point on Lake Erie.

The Joint Rescue and Co-ordination Centre along with two other vessels were called in to help with the search efforts while members of the OPP Emergency Response Team searched the shoreline.

On Tuesday, members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit along with OPP Aviation Services continued to search the water.

Police say they will provide an update when it becomes available.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to contact OPP.
