Police search for driver who crashed, abandoned stolen car

Hamilton Police are searching for a man wanted for crashing a stolen vehicle.

Officers found a damaged vehicle abandoned at the top of the Claremont Access at Rosedene Ave. around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

According to police, the car was travelling southbound on the access when it drifted and struck a rock face along the shoulder.

The vehicle’s front end was badly damaged and the car was abandoned.

Police say it was reported stolen the week before.

A female passenger was located and released.

The driver has been identified but has not been found.

He will be facing several charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and failing to comply with probation.
