Police say missing 81-year-old cyclist may be in Hamilton

Hamilton police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a missing 81-year-old man who may be in the city.

Ignacio Viana was last seen around 10 a.m. on Saturday at a home near Erin Mills Parkway and Folkway Dr. in Mississauga.

He is described as being five-foot-eleven, 175 lbs, with a thin build and short wavy hair. Viana was last seen wearing an orange cycling jersey and was riding a grey bicycle.

“Ignatio is known to ride long distances on his bicycle and has previously ridden in excess of 400km in a single day. As such, his exact whereabouts or destination are unknown,” said Peel police in a news release.

Police and family are concerned for his well-being.

Hamilton police posted a tweet over the weekend asking residents to call police if they see Viana.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact local police or detectives in Peel Region at 905-453-3311, ext. 1133.
