Toronto police have launched a criminal investigation into former CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi after allegations of violent sexual attacks.
Three women have come forward to police claiming they were attacked by Ghomeshi.
A total of nine women, including a former CBC employee, have made allegations of assault and sexual harassment since he was fired last Sunday.
Ghomeshi has said there is no truth to any of the allegations. He has claimed he engaged only in consensual sex.
Toronto police are appealing to the public for help in their investigation.
Police are asking anyone with more information or possible evidence to contact them.
They want to speak to anyone who may have video, pictures, or online messages related to this investigation.
The CBC said Friday it fired Ghomeshi after seeing “graphic evidence” that the radio host had “caused physical injury to a woman.”
Police say they’re looking into whether there is a video.
Trailer Park Boys star Lucy Decoutere is one of the three women who has gone to police
None of the allegations have been proven.
Ghomeshi has said he has engaged in rough sex, but that it was always consensual.
Criminal defence lawyer Peter Boushy says that won’t hold up if Ghomeshi is charged.
Police say the investigation is still in the early stages and they have not yet interviewed Ghomeshi.
They say investigators will approach him “when the evidence leads them to that point.”
Ghomeshi nor his lawyers have commented on the police investigation.
