Police investigate after truck strikes traffic signal light post in Pelham

First Published:

Niagara police are investigating after a truck struck a traffic signal light post in Pelham.

On August 2, police responded to a fail to remain in the area of Regional Road 20 and Pelham Street. The initial investigation determined that at around 5:00 p.m. -5:15 p.m., a tractor-trailer was travelling on Pelham Street and turned east onto Regional Road 20.

It was a red truck pulling a float-trailer with road-maintenance equipment on it. Police say the truck/trailer combination struck the signal light post on the southeast corner of the intersection, knocking it down. The truck stopped briefly and then left the area.

Police say there are no known injuries and no other damage has been reported. A temporary light post has been installed and the traffic control lights are functioning as they should.

Police are attempting to identify the truck and driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
