First Published:

Hamilton police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 20s was shot twice overnight.

Police were called to the area of John St. South around 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Investigators say there was a disturbance outside a nearby restaurant that led to a shooting.

A man suffering from two gunshot wounds was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say several suspects fled the area on foot.

They say the victim is known to police and has been cooperating with investigators.

Detectives are asking any residents or nearby businesses to check their surveillance cameras for any footage that could help police with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hamilton police.
