After a four month long joint investigation, police have seized $2.2 million in high-end vehicles and arrested several people.

The investigation called ‘Project Baijin’ began in April 2019. Police say stolen vehicles were being prepped to be shipped overseas in containers to China and other European countries.

On April 10, two international students were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and possession of property obtained by crime. Investigators were able to find links throughout Toronto and several other provinces from Quebec to British Columbia of an organized ring stealing high-end vehicles.

With the help from Halton and York police, eight search warrants were conducted and 22 vehicles were seized, including a 2018 Bentley GTC valued at $263,000, 2018 Mercedes Benz GT50 Convertible valued at $230,000 and a 2017 Mercedes Benz G63 valued at $200,000.

Five people were arrested and charged. Police say the investigation continues and expect further arrests to be made.
