With less than a month until the Pan Am Games, excitement is building all across Southern Ontario.

Three thousand torchbearers will have the honour of carrying the flame across Canada and it made its way through Mississauga today.

The torch will travel through 130 communities during the 41-day relay.

The flame arrived in style and was carried by one of the oldest torchbearers in this year’s relay.

At 94-years-old, there is not much Mississauga’s former Mayor Hazel McCallion hasn’t done.

Residents braved the wet weather to catch a glimpse of McCallion carrying the torch along the Credit River.

The torch will now move on to its next destination but the aftermath of the Pan Am games will last much longer.

Tickets to the Pan Am games are still available. Tickets start as low as $20.
