Pair in their 20s charged in gunpoint carjacking in Burlington

Two people in their 20s are facing multiple charges following a gunpoint carjacking in Burlington Tuesday evening.

Halton police said it happened just before 5 p.m. when a woman was getting into her 2020 Range Rover that was parked in an office parking lot near North Service Rd. and Burloak Dr.

A male suspect holding a gun approached the woman and ordered her out of the vehicle.

A second female suspect was waiting in a grey Dodge Journey. Both suspects fled the area in the stolen Range Rover and the Dodge Journey.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Shortly after, the Range Rover was involved in a collision near Upper Middle Rd. and Sutton Dr.

The male suspect was seen running away from the crash. Police arrived at the scene and found the man. Officers also found a gun in the stolen vehicle.

Around 5:30 p.m., police found the Dodge Journey driving in the area of Appleby Line and Mainway and then arrested the female suspect.

Joshua Belshaw, 22, of St. Catharines has been charged with six offences, including robbery with a firearm.

Kendra MacLeod, 21, of Welland is facing three charges, including possession of property obtained by crime.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
