Overnight crash knocks out power to homes on Hamilton mountain

Several homes and businesses on Hamilton mountain will have to wait a bit longer to have their power restored, after a car slammed into a hydro pole overnight knocking out power in the area of Upper Wellington and Mohawk Rd.

The car slammed into the pole at around 1:30 this morning on Upper Wellington just north of Mohawk. The driver suffered minor injuries and has been released from hospital. He has been charged with careless driving.

According to Alectra Utilities, 836 customers were initially without power, that number has gone down to 331. Estimated time of restoration is 2:30pm.
