Ottawa police investigate “hate-motivated” graffiti at National War Memorial

First Published:

Police in Ottawa are investigating what they say is hate-motivated graffiti at the National War Memorial.

The alleged incident happened last Friday. Police say a man used a sharp object to engrave a hateful message on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

They aren’t going into detail, only saying it was an image that targeted a certain group.

Police say a man approached the area on a bike just before 10 p.m. and left on the bike shortly afterward.

The incident came just days ahead of the six-year anniversary of a deadly shooting at the National War Memorial.

Police say the graffiti was removed within 24 hours.
