OPP investigating following a house fire in Waterford

The Ontario Provincial Police have arrested a man who is believed to have set his house on fire.

Norfolk County fire were called to Concession 6 Townsend just west of Old Highway 24 in Waterford at 11 p.m. By the time crews arrived the home was a total loss. However, firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a second residence.

A man was found on the property where he indicated that he had a gun and fled. The OPP K-9 and tactical units were called to the scene to search for the suspect. They found and arrested him with incident.

There were no injuries caused by the fire. The rest of the family who lived at the home are believed to be out of town.
