Ontario is moving to cap fees third-party delivery apps charge.
The government is poised to introduce legislation that would allow the province to temporarily limit how much apps like UberEats and DoorDash can charge restaurants in regions where indoor dining is banned.
The move is meant to help restaurants that are relying on delivery and takeout as their only source of revenue.
According to a government source, the limit has not yet been set.
However the province is looking at something similar to what was done in New York City, which recently capped delivery app commission fees at 20 per cent.
Documents obtained by The Canadian Press say companies who contravene the proposed law could face fines of up to $10 million.
