Ontario reports 525 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday

Ontario is reporting 525 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, marking a 3.5 per cent increase in total cases over Monday.

The provincial total now sits at 15,381, with 8,964 resolved cases.

Tuesday’s number includes 59 more deaths, bringing the total to 951.

The province has declared COVID-19 outbreaks at six more long-term care homes. There are currently outbreaks at 176 facilities in Ontario.

More than 250,000 tests have been completed since Jan. 15, with nearly 11,000 being done on Monday. There are still 6,282 cases under investigation.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Canada is 48,489 and 2,707 deaths.

As of Monday, Niagara Region was reporting 461 cases, Halton Region had 429, and Hamilton had 409.
