Ontario reports 441 new cases of COVID-19 Friday

Ontario is reporting 441 new cases of COVID-19 Friday and 28 more deaths.

Friday’s numbers mark a 1.8 per cent increase in the total cases in the province.

There have been 24,628 cases of COVID-19 in Ontario since Jan. 15. The province has also surpassed 2,000 reported deaths associated with the virus.

Seventy-six per cent of total cases have been resolved.

There are currently 961 people in hospital, including 153 in intensive care units. Of those patients, 120 are on a ventilator to assist with breathing.

The province says 11,276 COVID-19 tests were completed on Thursday and 5,516 cases are still under investigation.

There have been 588,958 tests done since the beginning of the pandemic.

For the first time in several weeks, the province did not report any new outbreaks at long-term care facilities.
