Ontario reports 424 new cases of COVID-19 Monday

First Published:

Ontario is reporting 424 new cases of COVID-19 Monday and 57 more deaths.

It marks a 2.9 per cent increase over Sunday which shows a continued slow growth in the number of total cases.

The provincial total now sits at 14,856 cases, including 8,525 resolved cases and 892 deaths.

The province says 945 patients have been hospitalized with the virus, including 241 people who are in the intensive care unit (ICU). Of those patients in the ICU, 191 are on a ventilator to assist with breathing.

Three more outbreaks have been declared at long-term care homes in the province, bringing the total to 170.

More than 240,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 since Jan. 15 and 5,001 cases are still under investigation.

Premier Doug Ford is expected to unveil the framework for re-opening Ontario’s economy Monday afternoon.

Ontario health officials previously released their latest projections related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the data showed virus had likely peaked in the province.
