Ontario reports 4,227 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths as hospitalizations rise

Ontario reported 4,227 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths on Friday.

The daily case count comes as the province completed 61,410 tests.

The positivity rate reported by the province is 6.3 per cent. It takes into account the date tests were completed.

Hamilton

  • 13,827 total cases — up 140 from Thursday
  • 12,347 resolved cases
  • 929 active cases
  • 100 in hospital
  • 332 deaths

Halton

  • 11,974 total cases — up 163 from Thursday
  • 11,010 resolved cases
  • 763 active cases
  • 59 in hospital
  • 201 deaths

Niagara

  • 10,604 total cases — up 118 from Thursday
  • 9,291 resolved cases
  • 937 active cases
  • 19 in hospital
  • 376 deaths

Brant

  • 2,017 total cases — up 16 from Thursday
  • 1,829 resolved cases
  • 174 active cases
  • 14 deaths
  • 7 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 1,772 total cases — up nine from Thursday
  • 1,590 resolved cases
  • 138 active cases
  • 39 deaths

Six Nations

  • 443 total cases
  • 428 resolved cases
  • 6 active cases
  • 1 in hospital
  • 9 deaths

There are 1,492 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario. That’s up from the 1,417 reported on Thursday.

The number of patients in ICU is also up, sitting at 552. Of those ICU patients 359 are on ventilators.

The province administered 105,382 vaccine doses on Thursday. There are 328,598 people in Ontario who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Another 2,641 cases have been marked as resolved.
