Ontario reports 390 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday

Ontario is reporting 390 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, and 43 more deaths.

The latest numbers bring the total number of cases to 22,774, including 1,962 deaths and 18,190 resolved cases.

The total number of cases represents a 1.7 per cent increase over Tuesday.

There are 991 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 160 people in intensive care units (ICU). Of those patients in the ICU, 120 are on a ventilator to assist with breathing.

The province says 567,176 tests have been completed since Jan. 15. More than 7,000 tests were done on Tuesday and 4,444 cases are currently under investigation.

Four more outbreaks have been declared at long-term care homes in Ontario, bringing the total to 284.

As of Tuesday, Niagara had 615 confirmed cases of COVID-19, Hamilton had 599, and Halton Region reported 587.
