Ontario reports 2,362 COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths

Ontario reported 2,362 cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths on Friday, a day after the premier announced an extension of the stay-at-home order.

The reported positivity rate is 6.1 per cent, with the province completing 44,040 tests in the last day.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 19,074 total cases — up 118 from Thursday
  • 17,361 resolved cases
  • 967 active cases
  • 125 in hospital
  • 373 deaths

Niagara

  • 15,052 total cases — up 46 from Thursday
  • 13,199 resolved cases
  • 1,454 active cases
  • 399 deaths

Brant

  • 3,007 total cases — up 22 from Thursday
  • 2,827 resolved cases
  • 160 active cases
  • 20 deaths
  • 8 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,520 total cases — up 14 from Thursday
  • 2,255 resolved cases
  • 219 active cases
  • 41 deaths

The province administered 141,765 vaccine doses on Thursday. There are 415,531 people in the province who have received both required doses.

Another 3,502 cases have been marked as resolved. The death toll is 8,431 people.

There are 1,582 people in hospital with COVID-19 across Ontario, down from the 1,632 reported on Thursday. There are 777 patients in ICU with 560 of them on ventilators.
