Ontario reports 1,746 new COVID-19 cases, eight deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,746 new cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths.

The results come as the province completed 39,406 tests. Another 27,388 tests are under investigation.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 4 new cases, 48 active cases

Brant: 7 new cases, 72 active cases, 5 in hospital

Niagara: 14 new cases, 204 active cases, 10 in hospital

Halton: 47 new cases, 752 active cases, 24 in hospital

Hamilton: 47 new cases, 511 active cases, 2 deaths, 21 in hospital

 

Another 1,320 cases have been marked as resolved. Just under 85 per cent of the province’s reported cases of COVID-19 are resolved.

There are 618 patients hospitalized with COVID-19. There are 168 in intensive care with 108 of those on ventilators.

The total number of COVID-19 deaths is 3,656 with 63 per cent of those in residents of long-term care.

There were 102 cases of COVID-19 reported in the province’s schools.
