Ontario reports 1,478 new COVID-19 cases, 21 deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,478 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 deaths.

According to numbers released by the province on Thursday, 47,576 tests were completed. Another 52,852 tests are under investigation.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 8 new cases, 39 active cases

Brant: 14 new cases, 71 active cases, 4 in hospital

Niagara: 22 new cases, 213 active cases, 6 in hospital

Halton: 101 new cases, 607 active cases, 2 deaths, 24 in hospital

**Halton Region Public Health says Thursday’s new cases include 50-60 cases from Nov. 17-24 that were not reported.

Hamilton: 71 new cases, 368 active cases, 20 in hospital

 

The death toll is at 3,575. Of those deaths, 2,270 are in residents of long-term care. The majority of the deaths reported Thursday are people 80 and older.

The province says another 1,365 cases were marked as resolved. 85 per cent of Ontario’s COVID-19 cases are resolved.

There are 556 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the province. There are 151 patients in intensive care, with 105 of those on ventilators.
