Ontario reports 1,417 new COVID-19 cases, 8 deaths

Ontario is reporting 1,417 new cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths.

These results come as the province completed 48,173 tests.

The number of resolved cases is just slightly below new cases at 1,415.

 

Here’s how the numbers break down in our region:

Haldimand-Norfolk: 1 new case, 37 active cases

Brant: 12 new cases, 61 active cases, 2 in hospital

Niagara: 25 new cases, 183 active cases, 3 in hospital

Hamilton: 36 new cases, 331 active cases, 1 death, 16 in hospital

Halton: 57 new cases, 586 active cases, 1 death, 19 in hospital

Six Nations: 1 active case

 

A total of 3,451 people have died of COVID-19 in the province. Four of the eight deaths reported on Friday were residents in long-term care.

There are 12,623 active, known cases of COVID-19 in Ontario.

There are 518 patients in hospital with the virus, down from the 526 reported on Thursday.

There are 142 patients in intensive care and 92 of those are on ventilators.

The province reported 87 cases of COVID-19 in schools.
