Ontario reports 1,095 COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths

Ontario reported 1,095 cases of COVID-19 and 23 deaths.

It’s the sixth straight day the daily case count has been under 2,000.

The reported positivity rate is 5.3 per cent, while the province says it completed 24,008 tests in the last day.

Here are the COVID-19 numbers for our region

Hamilton

  • 20,224 total cases — up 53 from Tuesday
  • 18,672 resolved cases
  • 751 active cases
  • 84 in hospital
  • 380 deaths — up two from Tuesday

Niagara

  • 15,603 total cases — up 40 from Tuesday
  • 14,316 resolved cases
  • 882 active cases
  • 405 deaths
  • 38 in hospital

Brant

  • 3,191 total cases — up 12 from Tuesday
  • 3,079 resolved cases
  • 92 active cases
  • 20 deaths
  • 7 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

  • 2,620 total cases — up three from Tuesday
  • 2,499 resolved cases
  • 70 active cases
  • 45 deaths

There are 1,073 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the province. There are 672 patients in intensive care, with 469 of them hooked up to ventilators.

Nearly 8.4 million vaccine doses have been administered in Ontario, with 135,308 of them given on Tuesday.

There are 569,317 people in the province who have received both required vaccine doses.

Another 2,371 cases have been marked as resolved.
