The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal fire in Hagersville.

Emergency crews were called to Main St. N near King St. around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses reported seeing smoke coming out of an apartment above a store.

Haldimand County Fire put out the fire and located a body inside the apartment.

No one else was inside.

Haldimand County OPP is helping with the investigation.

They say the cause of the fire and the identity of the person killed is under investigation.
