One person has died after a multi-vehicle crash on the QEW in Oakville Friday.

It happened in the westbound lanes of the highway, near Ford Dr., just before 8 a.m. causing major traffic backups for the morning commute.

Ontario Provincial Police say several vehicles were involved in the pileup, including a small school bus and dump truck.

The dump truck ended up on top of another vehicle. Police say they found one person dead inside that vehicle.

None of the children on the school bus were injured.

The westbound lanes of the highway are closed for the investigation.
