One Grace Villa resident dead, Covid-19 cases up to 43

Hamilton’s Grace Villa nursing home is reporting it’s first COVID-19 related death. Hamilton Public Health says the 84-year-old woman died Saturday.

The home is also up to a total of 43 cases, up from 34 the day before.

Meanwhile, the city of Hamilton is reporting 63 new cases. That brings the total to 503 active cases, marking the first time they have exceeded 500 at one time.

The city has reported no new outbreaks today.

Mohawk College is reporting four students have tested positive for the virus. Two are associated with the Stoney Creek campus, and two at the Aerospace Training Hub at Hamilton International Airport. The College says the students all followed health and safety protocols before entering the respective building. The students involved at the Stoney Creek campus last attended classes on November 20 and November 23, 2020, respectively. While the students involved last attended classes on November 19, 2020.
