It’s not just Hamilton’s real estate market that’s experiencing exceptional growth, new Hamilton restaurants seem to be popping up everywhere and the city has organized an entire week to celebrate and indulge in local dining.

“There’s places that specialize in tacos there’s places that specialize in burgers and what they do they do really well. Eating at these independent restaurants, the quality of food is way better.”

On October 17th, the inaugural “Nosh Week” will celebrate the city’s colourful palate with food tours and demonstrations. That left an impression on Toronto-based food blogger Solmaz Khosrowshahian. “I travel the world eating and writing about it and I saw that little spark in Hamilton.”

Another strength is the Hamilton Farmers Market. It serves as a viable incubator for many newbie restaurateurs. “We don’t pay very much for rent here we have a lot of people we can get produce off of so it was a good place to experiment. Turned out doing really good so after the success of this we’re planning on opening another one.”

While Hamilton’s food scene was described as team-oriented and cohesive, on the first night of Nosh Week there will be a chef war at Liuna station where local chefs will compete for bragging rights as the best chef in the city.
