Niagara Region Transit to resume fare collection

First Published:

Niagara Region Transit will resume front-door boarding and fare collection next week.

To prepare for this, the agency says buses are being retrofitted with Plexiglas barriers.

Transit providers will continue limit the number of passengers on vehicles but will loosen the restrictions as provincial guidelines allow.

Passengers are being encouraged to wear a face mask.

Enhanced sanitation of vehicles will continue.

Service to certain routes that were stopped or limited will also resume.

Niagara Region Transit is reinstating Routes 40 and 45 between Niagara Falls and St. Catharines on June 29.

This route includes service to Niagara College Glendale campus and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Outlet Mall.

Welland Transit is bringing back service on all eight routes as of June 28.

Fares will also be collected on that day.

St. Catharines Transit will return to front door boarding on June 28 with fares required as of July 1.

Elsewhere in the region, front door boarding resumes on June 29.

Fares will be required starting Canada Day.
