Niagara police upgrade charges to first degree murder in Fort Erie double homicide

First Published:

Niagara regional police have upgraded charges against a man in relation to the murders of two young women at an Airbnb in Fort Erie last year.

20-year old Julianna Pannunzio of Windsor and 18-year old Christine Crooks of Toronto were found dead at a short term rental home in Fort Erie on January 19th 2021, after an overnight party.

So far, police have arrested three people in connection to the double homicide. Detectives upgraded the charges against 30-year-old Trevor Barnett of Scarborough from accessory after the fact to two counts of first degree murder. Barnett appeared in court Friday.

Police say the case remains an active investigation and have said that some people who were at the party that night were not co-operating.
