Niagara Regional Police say one of their own has been charged with firearm-related offences after a six-month long investigation into the officer.
Niagara police were made aware of an allegation in September last year involving a uniform constable currently employed by the service.
Hamilton police were asked to investigate to ensure there was no conflict of interest over the case.
As a result of the investigation, Constable Adam Gorski was arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of possessing an unauthorized firearm.

Niagara police say that at the time of the alleged offences, Gorski was on administrative leave.
He has been an officer with Niagara police for 15 years and the force says that in accordance with the Police Services Act of Ontario, he has been suspended with pay.
Gorski was released from custody on a Form 10 Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Hamilton next month.
