Niagara police investigating fatal single-vehicle crash in Niagara Falls

Niagara police are investigating a fatal crash in Niagara Falls Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the area of Dorchester Rd. and Oldfield Rd. around 9 p.m. after a vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Police say a bystander in the area was able to rescue the passenger of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man from Niagara Falls. He was taken to an out-of-region hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating.
