Niagara Falls woman dies after SUV and dump truck collide

Niagara Regional Police Service is investigating after a woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Thorold.

Police say a black SUV collided with a dump truck around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

It happened in the area of Thorold Town Line Rd. between Beaverdams Rd. and Thoroldstone Rd.

The driver of the SUV, a 63-year-old woman from Niagara Falls, was pronounced dead at the scene. The dump truck driver, a 57-year-old Welland man, was treated at the scene.

Police say the SUV was completely destroyed and the dump truck sustained some minor front end damage. They say there was also a fuel spill as a result of the crash.

Thorold Townline Rd. remains closed while crews repair damage to the roadway.
